The Ultimate Water Color Set
Create soft, expressive watercolor artwork in Photoshop with a collection designed to give you everything from delicate transparent washes to beautiful blooms, splatters, drips and textured painterly edges.
I created this set to make digital watercolor feel loose, organic and wonderfully imperfect. The new painting brushes build beautifully with pressure and overlapping colour, allowing the texture of the paper to show through just as it would with traditional watercolor. Layer soft washes, deepen areas of pigment, blend colours together, or let your edges stay wonderfully unfinished.
Then make a mess!
The included watercolor splatters, drips and bloom stamps are perfect for breaking up edges, adding spontaneous marks, building backgrounds and giving finished artwork that unpredictable quality that makes traditional watercolor so beautiful.
What’s Included
8 new watercolor painting brushes created for soft washes, blooming colour, layered pigment and expressive edges
A collection of watercolor splatter stamps
Drips and running-paint stamps
Soft watercolor blooms and washes
Real watercolor paper textures created from actual artist watercolor paper
A collection of practice illustrations ready to paint, including beginner-friendly designs and more detailed artwork for experimenting with your brushes
A variety of marks for adding texture, atmosphere and finishing details to your paintings
Paint Them Your Way
The included practice illustrations give you an easy place to begin without needing to draw first. I've intentionally kept the artwork light so the lines can act simply as a guide while your watercolor becomes the finished artwork.
Start with one of the simpler illustrations while you learn how the brushes respond, then move into the more detailed florals, butterfly, bird, seahorse, lemons and other designs as you become more comfortable.
Of course, you're not limited to the included artwork. Use the brushes with your own drawings, photographs, digital paintings, composites and backgrounds.
Made for Layering
These brushes really come alive when you stop trying to make everything perfect.
Use a light colour and low pressure for transparent washes. Paint over an area again to allow pigment to build. Introduce a second colour and let the two visually mingle. Allow some marks to wander beyond your drawing. Add blooms, erase portions back, stamp in a few splatters and finish with a drip or two.
Every pass can create something a little different.
That's the fun of watercolor.
From Soft & Pretty to Dark & Moody
Although the set works beautifully for delicate florals and pastel artwork, don't let the pretty pinks fool you! These same brushes can create rich, moody backgrounds, expressive portrait treatments, abstract artwork, mixed-media pieces and dramatic painterly composites.
Change the colours, change the paper, change the way you layer the brushes and the entire personality of the artwork changes.
Loose. Textured. Imperfect. Painterly.
Exactly the way watercolor should be.
